Wednesday, December 1st

OvO, Silvia, Art
We continued working on the presentation of colors, and finished translating and correcting the slides. We talked about what I would do with 2nd Eso the next day--present basic information on colors (primary, secondary, etc.)

OvO, Juanma, Technology
We continued to plan ahead and looked at the students next activity--making a pop-up Christmas card. We explored the process and brainstormed ways to incorporate English. Students will write a Christmas message in English on the card and I will help them do this.

Eliseo, Gym, 1st Eso
Eliseo and I decided to play two different types of dodgeball (something we had talked about doing before). The Spanish way and the American way are different, so we decided to first play the Spanish way, and then I explained the American version. After, the kids played the American way. We then planned on having kids practice their English by getting into small groups and identifying the differences between the two, but we ran out of time.

Thursday, December 2nd

Eliseo, Gym, 2nd Eso
We did the same dodgeball lesson that we did the day before with the 1st Eso.

Gustavo, Math, 2nd Eso
I took notes and listened to Gustavo present content to the students. Before I left I went over a few errors with him.

Alfonso, Social Studies, 1st Eso
Students practiced interpreting weather maps. They would look at a weather map of Spain with different symbols they had been practicing in English and would take turns being the weather-man by interpreting the map, speaking in English. I helped with any vocabulary and pronunciation.

Alfonso, Social Studies, 2nd Eso
We did a reading covering Feudalism. Students listened to me read a section, and then one of them repeated the section, and Alfonso kept track of new vocabulary on the board, and interjected by routinely further explaining the content.

OvO, Alfonso, Social Studies
We talked about other ways I could help in the classroom and brainstormed an activity to do with 1st Eso relating to Ecosystems and types of animals that live in those ecosystems.

Silvia, Art, 2nd Eso
I presented material covering primary and secondary colors. I used a powerpoint presentation that Silvia had put together and stressed the importance of understand colors and how artists use them to make a painting/drawing more powerful.

Monday, December 6th--No School

Tuesday, December 7th

OvO, Gustavo, Math
We went through a reading packet he had sent me to make corrections and then looked at word problems that students were continuing to send him. We corrected these for the rest of the time.

Juanma, Technology, 2nd Eso
I brainstormed Christmas vocabulary with the students to help them come up with messages that they could write in their pop-up Christmas cards. The students then worked on Christmas messages and I helped them structure them.

Silvia, Art, 1st Eso
I led a discussion, using a powerpoint presentation Silvia had made, talking about the basic elements of expressionism. I had done points and lines with them already, so this time we looked at planes. We looked at different pieces of artwork and I had students read the English slides.

I have a quick presentation on tips to giving presentations. Students then gave presentations on word problems they had created.

Alfonso, Social Studies, 1st Eso
Worked on pronunciation of weather vocabulary.

Alfonso, Social Studies, 2nd Eso
Read a passage about the Vikings. I read, I picked on a student to repeat, and Alfonso did vocabulary on the board.

OvO, Alfonso
Talked about the European Union and the Irish bailout.

Silvia, Art, 2nd Eso
Gave presentation on light and color and how it can be used effectively to make cool special affects. Showed the students two videos of professional artists who do spectacular things with lights (below).

Monday
Antonio, Science, 1st Eso
Students continued to practiced vocabulary with invertebrates by writing and presenting a description of a animal.

Antonio, Science, 2nd Eso
I listened and took notes on Antonio's 20 minute lecture about reproduction. I then helped students complete a worksheet which was all in English

OvO, Antonio
Went over notes I took on his presentation. We then edited a new set of handouts for the students.

Ana, English, 2nd Eso
We went over the answers to the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving handout from two weeks ago. We then watched my Thanksgiving video (below) and talked further about Thanksgiving, especially the food.

Tuesday
OvO, Gustavo
Edited students' word problems that they had sent to Gustavo. We then edited a handout that he will be giving the students in the next week or two.

Juanma, Technology, 2nd Eso
Students had an exam, therefore I was not needed in class.

Silvia, Art, 1st Eso
I gave a presentation talking about the Four Elements of Art: points, lines, texture, and planes. We used three artists as examples and talked about a few of their pieces.

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

OvO Silvia, Art
We worked on editing content that will be presented to the students in the coming week. Silvia had written a good amount of content and I just went through and made corrections and clarifications.

OvO Juanma, Technology
Was busy running around therefore did not get a chance to talk.

Eliseo, Gym, 1st Eso
I led warm ups--running and stretching. I then took notes as Eliseo described the days activity, practicing different ways to throw the frisbee with a competition twist. We then monitored the students throwing and carried on and encourage conversation in English.

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

OvO Gustavo, Math
We had given the students a homework assignment last Thursday where they were given a set of numbers and they had to come up with their own word problem using those numbers. We went over one of the students created word problems. We then talked about class this coming week and how we are going to have students present their created problems (basic presentations). I will take time to suggest presentation strategies as well.

Juanma, Technology, 2nd Eso
Students worked on the "Exploded" view of objects and had to finish 2D drawings of two different pens in the exploded view. Students then worked on a 3D object, finishing a portion that was left blank. I presented the information to the kids in English and went around checking their work.

Silvia, Art, 1st Eso
I gave an introduction to Expressionism and important elements of this type of art. I showed students two pictures, the first a photograph of Motril and the second a painting by Van Goh. Students had to describe the different elements and I led a discussion that eventually led to two important elements of expressionism, points and lines.

Antonio, Science, 1st Eso
Students have moved from vertebrate to invertebrate animals and we did the same activity as last week. Students were given a card with a picture of a invertebrate animal and had to write 4-5 sentences describing it with vocabulary they had learned before. Students then volunteered to read their descriptions in front of class having the other students guess which animal they were describing.

Antonio, Science, 2nd Eso
Antonio gave a quick 15 minute introduction to stem cells and how their role differs from other specialized cells. Students then had a series of questions that they had to respond to in written form and had to turn in before the end of class. I helped the students with their writing as well as reiterating parts of the content that were unclear.

OvO, Antonio
I went over notes I had taken during his mini-lecture and we worked on some basic pronunciation. We then continued to work on editing the content (lecture slides and questions) that he has developed for the current and future unit.

Ana, English, 2nd Eso
After realizing last week that the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special was too high of an English level for the students I put together a Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt. Students were given a handout with 15 questions. I then showed them the 4 websites posted below and told them that they could answer all of the questions using these websites. This proved to be more difficult then I thought it would be and almost all of the students didn't finish in class.

Eliseo, Gym 2nd Eso
We did the same activity we did with the other class yesterday. This time I showed the students how to correctly do a sit up and helped them while they were doing their fitness workout.

Gustavo, Math 2nd Eso
Students finished presenting word problems they had been previously assigned in front of class. Afterwards we began work on a set of problems I had found and had been assigned yesterday. We went through the problems reading each, setting up the equations and solving.

Alfonso, Social Studies, 1st Eso
Students had an exam, so no class.

Alfonso, Social Studies, 2nd Eso
Students did a reading about the Frankish Empire. I did the reading with the students. I would read a sentence or two, and then call on a student to re-read it. While I worked on pronunciation during the reading, Alfonso wrote vocabulary words on the board so the students could better understand the reading.

OvO, Alfonso
We made small talk about history and the social sciences, practicing his English.

Silvia, Art, 2nd Eso
I presented a news article from the NY Times and discussed it with the students. Student have been studying the media and how art is presented in the media (cartoons, photographs, etc.).
